It almost didn't start this morning. At least there's probably only three more months of -30!

My throttle body was frozen shut when I went to drive home at lunch.

You thought about moving south? I hear Montana is pretty temperate.

Plug-in? You must have a green car.

I am refraining from using my parking brake for the time being as it may freeze in the locked position
. Sounds like you could use a battery. Even at -15 F
my Mazda starts fine, it doesn’t like it but it starts
.

My employer doesn't approve of me not working somewhere frozen.

I'm thinking of an AGM battery eventually. This one should survive the winter.

I never buy anyth
ing fancy, whatever NAPA has. Seems to work fine for 5-10 years.

Fair, but we frequently get brutally cold winters. Batteries get killed pretty quickly if you're not careful here.

Get a battery blanket, you don't even need to plug it in, just use it for insulation.

Wife’s car pulled this trick again this morning;

-20, It was plugged in for an hour before she left. I guess it’s getting plugged in 24/7.
Lucky we only get a week or so this cold in a year.

TBH it’s probably just because I watch too much TG (T ).

If it’s -25c or colder I plug in my cars, at work my car I parked for 9 hours without being plugged and starts all the time
My AGM battery addiction might help that

Where you buy your car battery is nearly irrelevant at this point.
NAPA batteries are made by Deka (east penn) which is a reasonably decent brand.
But there is really only Ea st Penn, Exide, or Johnson Controls at this point.

I second the battery blanket idea
